The line graph illustrates how the numbers of burglary, car theft, and robbery changed in the city centre of Manchester over a 9-year period between the years 2003 and 2012.
In total, the quantity of cases related to burglary decreased considerably within a decade. In contrast, car theft experienced an upward trend, while the amount of robbery almost remained the same.
To be more precise, over 3000 incidents of burglary took place in 2003, and after reaching the peak of nearly 3800 crimes a year later, the figure hit the trough in 2008 (just over 1000). It saw a moderate decline by nearly 500 cases and slightly fluctuated during the next 4 years.
Turning to car theft and robbery, the number of the former was six times as much as the latter amounting to approximately 2400 and 600 respectively. Following the insignificant drop in the quantity of stolen automobiles until 2006, there was a noticeable rise reaching around 2750 incidents in 2012. Finally, the highest point of robbery can be seen in 2005, after which fewer crimes were commited in this area gradually returning to the initial level by the end of the given period.
