The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.

The graph illustrates the global water consumption for different matters in the 20th century, while the table reveals the population and water usage of two nations namely, Brazil and Congo in 2000. Overall, the usage of water over time was on the increase.

To specify, as per the graph, agricultural needs had always been at the top of the list and its usage changed from 0.5 km3 in 1900 to 3 km3 in 2000. Moreover, industrial use ranked second in terms of water consumption, and its consumption changed from 0.2 km3 to 1.2 km3 in the whole country. The least use was relevant to domestic matters which its usage was close to that of industrial matters until the mid of the century. Following that the rise in the industrial consumption was more considerable compared to that of domestic use.

Moving to the table, Brazil population, 176 million, was many times bigger in contrast to that of Congo (5.2 million). Furthermore, Brazil had 26.5 km2 farmland which needed irrigation, whereas this amount for Congo was 100 km2. Interestingly, in Brazil, everybody consumed 359 m3 which was huger than that of Congo (8 m3).

To sum up, in the 20th century, the consuming of water was raised and also in 2000, water consumption of Brazil was mostly related to people usage, whereas in Congo farmlands predominated other matters.
