The professor addresses the three solutions provided by the text to help save the Torreya taxifoha, which is a type of an evergreen tree that live in Florida facing a rapid die out with no certain causes.

First, the professor asserts that for Torreya to reestablish at the same location is a very unlikely solution. The professor added that the whole microclimate in Florida has been changed, due to global warming temperature has been raised, and wet area has been drained. Thus, made the climate much dryer than it used to be. Those changes work against Torreya reestablishing in area once was its favorable one. However, the text states that planting Torreya in the same location might be the solution.

Second, the professor affirms that moving Torreya to another new location is most likely to cause a serious disadvantage. The professor used an example of another tree called Black trail, when scientist decided to plant this tree in a new location a sudden unexpected thing happened. The tree spread so fast that lead to killing all plants and trees in the new location. In addition those dead trees and plants was at a threat of being extent. However, the text believes that Torreya planting in forests north was a successful trail, and it could be the solution to save the endanger tree.

Third, the professor asserts that moving Torreya in research centers is not a good solution, since the population in the center would be limited due to space that will lead to less disease resistance. She added that for a population to resist disease it should be in a large numbers and it should be genetically diverse, thus limiting Torreya in labs could worsen the situation. However, the text stated that moving Torreya in those centers would allow scientist to have a close observation on the tree to ensure it survival.
