Reading passage and Lecture about UA voting system . Write an essay how the professor oppose the computerized system
The Reading passage and the lecture are both about voting system. From their contexts, it can be stated that the discussion is mainly about if computerized voting systems would be better than traditional systems. The author of the text claims that modern systems are much more efficient and trustable. The lecturer completely refutes the arguments in the article, hence, arguing that these explanations are faulty.
Firstly, it is said by lecturer that it would be very difficult for those who are not used to technology or computers using modern voting systems. Moreover, those people could vote wrong or even to be discouraged to vote by fear. This directly contradict the reading passage that denotes that computerized machines with touch screen and magnified view of candidates would avoid errors during vote.
Secondly, the lecturer safely assumes that there would be mistakes in computerized voting system as well as happens to traditional count made by hand. This is because computers are programed by humans, furthermore, these errors could be more serious as thousand of vote could be lost. Moreover, the recount of the wrong votes would be impossible as there are not physical records. This idea strongly contrasts with the article that mentions that modern voting system would remove the human errors and the long time to recount votes is a great disadvantage of this system.
Finally, the lecturer believes that technology used in a daily basis such as in communications or banks took a long time to be improved. Which is difficult to happen with voting systems as elections just occur once in a while. The text, on the other hand, states that technology improvement are not so risky because everybody trust on it daily.
