The chart below shows Japan’s population by age groups starting in 1960 and including a forecast to 2040. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Given is the line graph depicting the population changes in 3 group of ages from 1960 to the present and giving a prediction to 2040.
Perceptibly, the figure of those in the age of 0 to 14 is supposed to leap continuously, while the opposite is true with the group of 25 to 64 and over 65. However, among three groups of ages, the middle age group contains the biggest volume through the years.
Leaping to the highest point of 70% in 1970 from 65% in the first year, the population of the 25 to 64-year-old oscillated between 70% to 68% to 2000 before witnessing an extreme slump to just 60% in 2020 . After this rate is predicted to plunge continually to 55% a decade later, it seemingly reaches a recovery to 58% in the last year. From the second rank with 30% in 1960, the population of kids from 0 to 14 was recorded to surge to 35% in the next 10 years; this number, however, plunged sharply through the period of 50 years. The rest of the course registers a vague moderation to just 10% which is the lowest figure in 2040.
Turning to that of the oldest group, 5% was recorded to be the smallest number in 1960. After a ten-year plateau, this number experienced a sharp proliferation to 30% in 2020. There is a projection that it continues to soar up to 35% and reach the second rank in 2040.
