The chart provides the information of total number of incidents and injury occurred per million passenger miles travel by different modes of transportation in 2002.

Overall the total number of incidents and injuries are less in commuter rail as Compared to the demand response.

As per the chart the commuter rail accounted 20 Million PMT incidents which is very less as compared to other modes of transportation which accounts 51 Million PMT incidents under heavy rail 76 Million PMT under Light rail and Bus and maximum number of incidents are accounted under Demand response i.e 225 Million PMT.

If we talk about the injuries we see the same graph of upward treand which we saw in the number of incidents with respect to the mode of transportation. Commuter rail is accounted for 17 Million PMT injuries which is 85% of total incidents. Heavy rail and light rail both accounted for 35 Million PMT and 39 Million PMT injuries. The Bus accounted for 66 Million PMT injuries which is around 86% total number of incidents which is highest in incidents and injuries ratio. The demand response accounted for 173 million PMT injuries.
