The article states that there are some paintings attributed to Rembrandt by doubt.One of them is the picture of a woman. It states some reasons for support the idea that the painting is not painted by Rembrandt. However, the professor refutes these reasons in the lecture.

First, according to the passage the woman in the painting wears a white linen cap of a kind for servant clothes while she is also wearing a luxurious fur collar. It is a big contrast. The professor states that according to research on colors of the painting, this fur collar was painted 100 years after the original painting was painted by Rembrandt.

Second, passage talks about a failure in showing light and shade in the painting. The professor mentions in the lecture that adding color to the original painting caused this failure while the original painting is so realistic in showing the light and shadows on the woman face.

Finally, passage mentions that the panel of the painting is not the one which the painter often used for his paintings. In contrast, the professor says that manipulating of the painting is the cause of glued panel. She adds that research on the panel show that the wood is from very same tree which is used as a panel for painting by Rembrandt.

That is the way professor refutes the reasons which are declared by the passage about the Rembrandt painting.
