The line graph compares statistics on the proportion of inhabitants using the Internet in different countries over a period of 10 years from 1999.
It is clear that there was an increase in the number of Internet users throughout the given period. However, the percentage of Internet usage in the USA and Canada completely overtook the percentage of Mexicans using the Internet.
In 1999, under 20% of Americans had access to the Internet, but this figure was much larger in comparison with other countries. During the same period, the rate of population in Canada and Mexico was lower, at 7% and 5% respectively. Whereas the figure for Canadians and Americans who used the Internet had the same outgoings with approximately 70% over the following six years, the rate of access to the Internet was by far the lowest in Mexico, with just about 25%.
By 2009, nearly 100% of Canadians had used the Internet, compared to 80% of people using the Internet in the USA. In contrast, Mexico saw a considerable rise in Internet usage, to almost 40%.
