The graph shows the percentage of people adopting new technology within the UK in the course of 15 years from 2000 to 2015.
Overall, there was a widespread adoption of new technology during these years with high figures for using the Internet, having broadband at home and using social media. Moreover, despite appearing during the last 5 years, the ownership of smart devices experienced a dramatic growth.
The uptake of modern networking soared throughout the years. The internet users have tripled and social media users grew strikingly by 78%. The percentage points of broadband at home increased by 13 times within the first 10 years and then grew quite steadily in the next 5 years.
Hi-tech devices were frequently used from 2010 to 2015 although they showed no signs of usage during the previous years. The rate at which tablets were used rose by 10 times only in a short period, making it the highest usage frequency of the three. Smartphones also experienced a similar spike, rising by 3 times from 19% to 73%. Smartwatch ownership rate was the lowest, seeing a sluggish increase of 4%.
