Both the author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the side-effects of "let it burn" policy. While, the reading part lists some factors as the negative impacts of this policy in Yellowstone experience, the professor casts doubt on the accuracy of these specific points and mentions to some clues which illustrate the creative influence of this role.
First of all, the text names that the Yellowstone fires led to the huge damage to the vegetation and trees; however, the lecturer refutes this fact. As she asserts the fire provides the well-prepared condition for novel plants to colonize. This situation paves the path to the varied range of ecosystem. For instance, the big trees which endanger the habitats of the small plant required sufficient sunlight to grow, by demolishing of these trees new small plants have this opportunity to thrive in the park.
Next, meanwhile, the passage mentions to the destruction of animals' habitats as a cause of negative effect of this policy for the wildlife; the lecturer rebuts this fact. As she states, the suitable condition flourished for the plants is accountable for the animals' habitats too. The small animal such as the rabbit and hers which do not have this chance to survive, before the fire, now, they have this opportunity to establish new habitat. Based on their appearances, animals which prey on them initiate to dominate in this park. As a result, the new chain of food is formed. That is how the professor challenges the accuracy of this factor.
Last, the article presumes that since the tourist attraction of this park is destroyed, there is a local economy crisis. On the other hand, the professor argues the validity of this claim. Based on her assertion, this incident can lead to the financial failure if it happens each year. The reason of this event is related to a list of events such as the rare rain, dry climate and so on, which they should occur in the identical period. In contrary, this combination of disasters does not happen after 1980. Besides, after a year of that event, the park appeals the tourists as previous it did. Consequently, the fire does not possess the tremendous effect as it is surmised.
