I firmly believe that nowadays becoming familier and master in many academic branches can be so helpful. Several reasons have convinced me that learning in different aspects of sciens can be useful in ones daily life.
In first place we become independent in our daily life. If one knows about many kinds of the scientifics phenomenas that are happening around him or her, absoloutly he or she will see them from the other view. For example, one of my professors in the university has broad knowledge in civil engineering but also in many academic subjects; when, one of his students that wants to take his thesis paper to the professor, the professor knows that there are many staistics errors in his student's paper. If he did not know about other branch of sciense, he would not be able to help the student to correct the paper.
Second, we have many job offer in competitive job markets. Most of firm managers want to engage multi-tasks staffs. In many companys while, workers are doing their jobs suddenly confront with issues that maybe they did not learn about them in their major in universities. For example, I work in a company that all of us read civil engineering but really we need a person that familier with computer programing language. If you have programing ability, your chance in getting the job will be rise.
Third, we will win on discussion. If we learn many thing in different area, we will overcome in most of debaiting. For example, imagine you have a lot of information in politics and economics; It is obvious that if you were in a dicussion about the politicts, you would overcome to the other.
To summarize, for each extra ability you can solve one extra problem. There is a persian proverb that says, "Having two tools better than one tool."
