Both author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the methods proposed as a solution for the declining frog population. While the reading part lists three methods to overcome this incident, the professor counters these specific points and presents some clues to call into the question for the information in the passage.
First of all, the article posits that the law of banning the farmers from the usage of harmful pesticides in the cultivation areas next to the frogs' habitats will be effective. However, the instructor challenges this claim due to the fact that this law is not either practical or fair. As she asserts, the majority of farmers rely on these pesticides to prevent the crop lost and to be able to compete in the farming market. If the law has been passed to reduce or prohibit the use of these pesticides the farmers, who lands located next to the frogs’ habitats, will face the severe problems such as the lower crop production or the crop lost.
Next, the text mentions that the treatment such as the antifungal medication to prevent death caused in the frogs by the dehydration. Conversely, the professor underlines the fact that this treatment should apply individually; as a result, it is not cost-effective, and it is complicated. Based on her assertion, this procedure is applicable in a case which the frogs are captured and treated individually. Moreover, since the parent frogs pass on the fungus and its infection to the offspring, this treatment should be applied and repeated in the whole new generations, which is costly and an arduous task.
Finally, the reading part assumes that the great protection of the frogs’ habitats such as the lacks and wetlands can provide the better condition for the frogs to recover. On the contrast, the professor casts doubts on the accuracy of this claim by pointing to the mean threaten on the frogs’ living place. As she states, although the protection of the wetlands is beneficial, it is not the premier reason of the lack's disappearance. The mean threatens of the lake and wetlands is the global warming. Besides, as long as this threaten does not address accurately, the whole protection will be abortive.
