The pie chart illustrates the average household spendings on housing, food, health care, education, transportation and other purposes in the year 1950 and 2010. Units are measured in percentage (%) and are grouped by major categories of spendings.
From a general point of view, most of the money was spent on housing in 1950 but for food in 2010. Least money spent for both years was on the health care category. Besides, money allocation for different purposes had become more spreaded and balanced in 2010.
In 1950, expenditure in housing were given a priority of 72.1%, which is a comparatively large amount to 2010's 22%. Money spent on education plunged by 0.3% ( from 6.6& in 1950 to 6.3% in 2010).
Expenditure for food significantly increased from a mere 11.2% in 1950 to 2010. Apart from that, money spent on transportation elevated from 3.3% to 14% in a span of 60 years. Allocations made for health care increased slightly by 2.1% whereas money spent for all the other purposes had risen from 4.4% in1950 to 22% in 2010.
