The reading passage supports salvage logging and brings reasons for this idea and the lecturer refutes salvage logging in general.
First, the reading passage states that salvage logging is the practice of removing dead trees from forest that we will wait many years to decompensate, however the lecturer states that cleaning up the forest will decrease tree growth and not in favor of future generation.
Moreover, decaying wood increases insects which some of them are harmful to the trees. However the lecturer says that there is no question that woods will increase number of insects and birds but not all insects are harmful and some birds and other insects may be beneficial to plants.
Furthermore, in the reading it states that in case of fire, salvage logging is beneficial economically for the forest industries or industries that were accompanied to forest but the lecturer states that it never happened to be local workers but instead the professional workers came for salvage logging.
