The reading passage and the lecture are both discussing Ethanol compared to gasoline which ethanol is a good substitute to gasoline or not? The author of the reading believes that one of the biggest problem of Gasoline is global warming and ethanol does not help because of gasoline offers no environment advantage over gasoline. The lecturer cast doubt on this claim by stating that growing the plant will remove carbon dioxide from atmosphere.
Secondly, the author states that using amount of fuel will dramatically reduce the ethanol producton. He argues that corn in the farm is used for feeding the animals. The lecturer rebutes the argument by suggesting that we can produce clluilose that can not be eaten by animals.
Finally, the author mentions that ethanol price can never compete with gasoline their price change. The lecturer on the other hand, states that in future with subsidization of ethanol it will be three times increase in price of ethanol.
