Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The author of the article argues that critics believe that fine lines of the skeletal bones of the fossil of a dinosaur which was discovered in volcanic ashes, was not strong evidence of existence of feather in this animal and cites three reasons. In contrast, the professor repudiates the critic's opinion and proves that this dinosaur had feathers.
Firstly, according to the reading the lines of the fossil of dinosaur decomposed into fibers, since it is buried in volcanic ash and has been maintained as line of the fossil. As a result, these fine lines are not evidences of feather. On the other hand, the lecturer implies that other animals which were buried in the same site were well-preserved and their structure was not changed. Therefore, she explains that decomposition did not occur in the skin of this dinosaur.
In addition, the author of the passage emphasizes that as dinosaur mostly had frills in their body, the fine lines are remains of frills rather than feathers. On the contrary, the speaker indicates that a certain kind of protein has been found in the fossil. In other words, she mentions that lines are remains of feathers, since this certain protein is found in feathers rather than frills.
Finally, the reading makes it clear that the main functions of the feather are in fly and adjusting their body temperature and dinosaurs did not fly and hardly use the feather to thermal regulation. Therefore, there is no present for feather, since the dinosaur did not need these functions. However, the professor discusses that feathers in some animals have different application rather than fly or thermal regulation. For example, some of birds are using their colorful feather for mating. Hence, it is likely that the dinosaur use their feather for different purposes.
