Integrated essay " Michael Angelo art"
The reading passage is about the art work of Michael Angelo which was the most famous art of the Renaissance period. The listening passage however, casts doubts on the credits given to him in the reading passage.
First of all, The professor quotes that the statue of David, which the reading passage considers to be one of Michael Angelo's best master pieces, is a work that he had completed after another sculpture who did not really finish it. Therefore, according to the professor, this particular piece was never inspired by Michael on the first hand, and he should not be touted on it.
In addition to this, the professor also mentions that Michael should not also be credited on his work for decorating the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, because such a work required the assistance of thousands other artists. Thus, the professor thinks that he could be credited for managing the work and not for accomplishing it. On the other hand, the reading passage mentions that although the work on the Sistine Chapel had taken 4o years and yet had not been finished by Michael. However, decorating its ceiling remains one of his significant art works.
