The two tables provide sales data of coffee and bananas from Fairtrade in 1999 and 2004, relating to five countries in Europe.
As can be seen from the first table that all five countries had low coffee sales in 1999 but later the data saw an increase in 2004. UK grew up dramatically from 1.5 to 20 millions of euros. The sales in Switzerland doubled from 3 to 6 million euros. The increase of coffee in Belgium was relatively small among the five countries, only from 1 to 1.7 millions. Least growth was created by Denmark and Sweden with the same amount from1.8 to 2 millions and 0.8 to 1 millions, respectively.
According to the second table, Switzerland is no doubt the biggest salesman of bananas compared with other five countries, booming from 15 in 1999 to 47 millions in 2004. UK and Belgium only had a modest rise from 1 to 5.5 millions and 0.6 to 4 millions respectively. On the contrary, it is surprisingly to find that Sweden and Denmark even showed a decline in five years, with 1.8 to 1 millions and 2 to 0.9 millions, respectively.
In conclusion, UK has the best coffee sales while Switzerland’s bananas sells well.
