The chart shows details about the competency exam pass rate of high school students, figures are in percentage and categorized by subject and gender.
Foreign language, mathematics and computer science have the highest pass rate, all shows above 40% students, regardless of gender, successfully completed their tests. In contrast, there are no more than 31% of the students achieved a pass in exams for subject like history, chemistry and geography. In general, female students tend to outperform male students in all subjects except geography, which is the opposite as more than 30% boys passed the test, while only 20.1% girls meet the requirements.
Among all the subjects reported, girls who registered in computer science course achieved the best performance, with 56.3% passed the final exam. Boys in chemistry class, however, reported worst pass rete with merely 14.1%, which is half of the girls in the same course. It seems like gender doesn’t matter too much in subjects like physics, history, foreign languages and mathematics. But for computer science and chemistry, female did better than male students, the case reversed in geography.
In summary, more students passed the final exam in foreign languages, mathematics and computer science than chemistry, history and geography. In addition, female students have better academic performances than male students in most disciplines.
