Two pie charts
The first pie chart compares the average percentage of energy used for some purposes by families in Australia and the second pie graph illustrates the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions produced by those energy sources.
It is clear from the two pie charts that Australian households used the largest energy proportion for heating and water heating produced more greenhouse gas emissions than other purposes.
In terms of Australian family energy use, the proportion of energy used for heating was highest, at 42% of the total energy, while the figure for water heating was lower, at 30%. Other appliances accounted for 15% of the total energy used, compared to 7% of refrigeration, 4% of lighting and 2% of cooling, respectively.
The percentage of greenhouse gas emissions created by water heating was highest, at 32% of the total greenhouse gas emissions, whereas the figure for other appliances was more than a quarter, at 28%. 14% of the total greenhouse gas emissions made by refrigeration, while the figures for heating, lighting and cooling were 15%, 18% and 3%, respectively
