The reading states that the Russian submarines would occasionally hear strange sounds during their patrolling and provides three theses of support. However, the lecture claims that the source of giant sound is so doubtful and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the article argues that strange sounds can be related to male and female orca whales during a courtship ritual. The professor opposes this point by discussing the author's suggestion of whales. he states that the orca lives under the surface not as deeply as submarines.
Second, the reading claims that squid can be considered as an other hypothesis. The professor refutes this point by saying that the sounds lasted for two decades and it is impossible that a squid old in 20 years. Moreover, incredibly it is hard to be convinced that sound of squid has been started 20 years ago and lasted till now and has been stopped now.
Finally, the article posists that another military submarine were patrolling secretly belong to strange country. In contrast, the professor opposes this point by giving some explanations about speed of submarine. He says that submarines can not move so rapidly and can not change their direction. Furthermore, the technology of building submarines which can move silently is not exist thus a secret submarine can not move quickly and silently.
