Knowledge can be gained by both books and personal experiences. No one can set a limit for gaining knowledge from reading books or from practical knowledge. It really depends on individual person. Its really hard to compare to types of knowledge. Both are essential in one life.
First of all, knowledge gained by reading books is very essential to know principles, rules and so on. on the other hand reading books helps us to solidify our basic foundation. For instance, first we read book and then implement to get experience. Such as experiments on rats to test medicines, scientists first read about inventions make a thesis and then test it on rats to know the results. That is how practical knowledge is gained.
In addition, knowledge gained by books or by experiences are never ending. Life long we will face one or the other experiences whether it may be good or bad. Some people say knowledge gained by experience stay for long period in our brain. For example, i had studied about how transaction slip, demand draft, bills of exchange forms are used in banks, but i didn't know how to fill those forms. So i went to bank ans learned about it. This helped me for my project and i also gained experience by filling it myself.
Furthermore, if you want to learn to cook, first you know, what ingredients you need and then start to experiment it. Point is first basics are very important and you start implementing it to get better results.
In conclusion, any knowledge gained by books or by experiences are not waste. One or the other day we will sure remember the knowledge gained by books and experiences. Both knowledge helps us for future development.

The topic is "In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?" and your answer is "Both are essential in one life.".
It is not wrong, but didn't write according to the topic exactly.

'On the other hand' means However. It doesn't mean 'On another hand'.
better to write according to the topic : In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
while you write 'both are important'. Didn't answer the question exactly. Somehow out of topic. In real exams, the essay may get a very low mark.
