Dear James,
I hope you have been keeping well. It's been too long since we last met and that is why I was eagerly waiting to see you. But sadly, I am writing to let you know that I have cancelled my trip to England now.
As you were aware of the news that my parents were planning to keep the engagement ceremony of my elder sister next month. Unfortunately, due to some problem they have decided to prepone this event, hence, it is happening coming weekend now. Therefore, it is impossible for me to miss the ceremony and visit you.
Though, I am sure that you will understand this scenario, still, I am very sorry for the trouble caused to you as I know that you had even applied for the leaves to spend time with me. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience and would be grateful if you could change the date of your leaves because I am now thinking of visiting next month. If, it suits you, could you please reply me soon, so, I can book my tickets in advance.
I am looking forward to meeting you soon.
Warm wishes,
John
