As it was stated on the reading passage, it is the author's belief that a T-rex's broken leg fossil revealed some materials that seem to be the remains of blood vessels, red blood cells and collagen matrix. He provided three reasons to substantiate his claim. On the contrary, the lecturer finds the justification of the author unpersuasive and repudiates the reasons by some counter arguments.
Initially, the writer brought up the idea that the soft substance, which was found inside the channels of the leg, may represent the remains of blood vessels of T-rex. However, the lecturer is thoroughly doubtful about the reliability of this idea. As he points out that these channels are more likely to be the hollows that were created by bacteries. and the soft substance can be residues of them.
Another emphasized point in the reading was that the examination of the various parts of the inner bone revealed some spheres that could be the remains of red blood cells. On the other hand the lecturer refutes this one too by asserting that scientist have found fossils of primitive animals in the same area that contained these red spheres as well. But we know that primitive animals didn't have red blood cells. So these spheres are not necessarily the remains of red blood cells and their origin might have been some red mineral.
As the last point, the author drew attention to the fact that the dinosaur bone contained collagen, which is a main component of living bone tissue. Yet again, the lecturer considers this idea invalid by explaining that this collagen doesn't necessarily come from T-rex. Human skin contains collagen and touching of the bone by humans might have been the origin of the component.
