Issue essay:
Scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position
Scandal is said to be any political, social, personal and religious offense which disrespects morality or bring disputes in the community. The author in this issue claims optimistically that even these scandals are useful because they focus the public attention on any immoral activities and brings about change in the attitude of government and people.
In any democratic country where the method of administration is “For the people, To the people and By the people”, citizens have full rights to question the administration or whom-so-ever does any offense. The fear, of scandals done by the authorities being brought to light, check the authorities and prevent them from indulging in any such offence.
Scandals in certain cases are so effective that they can pull down the ruling government Media plays an important role in such issues. Their assiduous contribution in bringing the scandals to public view helps in maintaining the loyalty in the nation. The suitable example I could quote here is “Sri Lankan - Channel 4 Issue” which is now creating a agitation worldwide and this has resulted up in passing an amendment against a nation in UNO.
Regarding the Scandals bringing changes in human attitude – the case of Indian Delhi gang rape is a best example. This scandal has brought a nationwide change in people’s attitude and there were records of several campaigns and awareness meeting conducted after this scandal in order to keep a full stop against such brutal behavior. Further this case has also bought changes in Indian National Law which definitely any speaker or reformer can never make it.
On the other hand there is a general view that most of the scandals are allege and they are exaggerated to gain popularity and to cause dispute in nation. And also there is very chance of some scandals bringing serious chaos in the society and leads to public property destruction.
To conclude I would like to state that although Scandals have bought reforms and immediate responses to serious problems worldwide, serious checks should be made on the evident of scandals by media or social reformers before it is brought to public to avoid the false impressions and to preserve the peaceful nature of world.
