The reading and the lecture both discuss the use of electronic medical record system superseding the pervious ways of archiving medical records of patients, while the reading discribes it very useful; The professor think it is not that beneficary and the users will still face the pervious problems.
The reading alleged that by useing the new method costs of keeping and storaging will drop drametically because they will take no place and they are all recorded on a computer in a database. Nevertheless the teacher had claimed that it is not that benificary that the reading suggests because, still doctors use the paper and write in them in the case of either emergancy or referencing or even when they need signature on it for privacy issues.
The other reasons why the reading suggests that useing electronical records is booning is preventing errors such as: illigeible handwritting, improper transcription and nonstandard organization of paper records which in some cases even caused a sever resualt for the patients' health. On the other hand, the professor asserts that doctors while giving presceriptions to patients they use stylus and paper. And later on, their assitance will register the information and preserve it on the computer and that person will still face the old challenges.
In the long run, the reading believes that electronicals medical records will help reaserching due to ease of accessing to information and excavting patients records of different doctors and hospitals easily. Whereas the teacher talks about United States policy of accesing medical records of patinets which need the patients legimiticy to access it. Moreover, it is a complex and unwieldy procedure that will not be easy as the reading suggests. Furthermore, the pationt can also block accesing to her/his records.
