The reading passage lists three benefits from colonizing in asteroids while the professor in the lecture thinks that all the three benefits serve huge downsides.
The first reason the professor argues is that low gravity is harmful to people's health because people will lose muscle and bone density living in that environment. After several month living spacecraft, astronauts will have some health problem about muscle and bone, let alone living in asteroids for a long time. That is to say, the view in the reading that low gravity is good because people and equipment will not easily be pulled is not convincing.
Secondly, the reading holds the view that plenty of valuable metals can make compensation for the sponsoring. The professor, however, mentions that there is no guarantee to sell metals at the same price. If the supply for some certain mental is increasing tremendously, its price will drop down consequently. Thus, the professor fights against the second opinion in the reading again.
Last, the professor represents his idea that although it is easier for people reach asteroids when they are close to the Earth, coming back to the Earth is a challenge. Asteroids do not stay around the Earth and may move far away since their orbits of are unusual, which is contradictory to the reading that people can go and back due to the short distance between Earth and asteroids.
