The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line chart illustrates the energy utilisation in American from 1980 to this year and its prediction until 2030. The data is measured by quadrillion (q.) units.
Overall, besides hydropower, which is projected to remain its figure, other five energy resources experienced and will experience an upward trend. Among these energy resources, petrol and oil accounts for the largest consumption while hydropower represents the least usage amount.
To be more specific, 35 q. units petrol and oil was used in 1980, and then it fluctuated before rising to today’s amount at just over 40 q. It is predicted that petrol and oil will preserve its dominant position and reach at 50 q. in 2030. Natural gas was the second popular energy resource in 1980. However, its place is expected to be taken by coal, whose consumption began at about half amount of that from petrol and oil. After 2015, the consumption of natural gas will level off at 25 q., while coal will gradually increase its amount to just over 30 q.
As for other three energy producer, they all started at 4 q. in 1980. Even though both experienced a moderate growth, Americans consumed and will consume slightly more nuclear than solar/wind. Nevertheless, hydropower is expected to stable at its initial figure in the measured period.

flaws:
The line chart illustrates the energy utilisation in American from 1980 to this year
description: 'to this year' means which year? not to make something new.
better one:
The graph shows consumption of energy in the U.S. since 1980 with projections through 2030.
Also need more comparisons for natural gas and coal.
read a sample. Read it carefully at least 10 times. It has a lot of good sentences which can be used in your future essays:
