The charts below show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The pie charts illustrate the information about water utilisation in six regions of the world, namely North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia. Overall, a considerable amount of water is used for industrial purpose and agricultural purpose, while the least amount of water is consumed for domestic use.
First of all, the primary water consumption in both North America and Europe appear in the industrial sector, which are both accounting for about a half in the total. As for the other four regions, the water usage for this purpose only constitutes a very insignificant portion, with 12% in South East Asia, 10% in South America, 7% in Africa, and 5% in Central Asia respectively.
On the contrary, agriculture becomes the largest water consumer in the above four places. To be more specific, more than nine-tenths of water is spent on the agricultural sector in Central Asia. This proportion reduces gradually in Africa (84%), South East (81%), and South America (71%), whereas North America and Europe both only consume about one-third of their water for agricultural purpose. As for domestic water consumption, it always makes up the least portion with the range of 7%-19% in the six areas.
