A well known didactic saying is – knowledge is power and holds weight that is much more than its length. It is preached in various institutes that one goes into throught life to inculcate the proper use of it in their disciple. But one can argue that the real power lies in the hands of these institutes, as they are the ones influencing all the futures success and failures of the students enrolled. Its always better to be stopped at an earlier stage from a path that leads to destruction.

An educational institute is one that introduces a student to various possibilities and makes him capable of turning dreams into realities.
They give opportunities and a competitive environment for nurturing future citizens. Hence one tends to go to the best of the best. This fact has been long known by educators and hence they constantly keep improving to be placed in higher rankings. In doing so, they give in to the trends of society in giving emphasis on subjects which are well respected in society. Students are trained rigorously with quizzes and rewarded with an appreciation in stem fields while streams like arts are taken at ease. All the while creating an environment in which a student with a creative interest might not be at his best. This student might grow up to perform mediocrely and regret to be part of the crowd. And a mediocre citizen is not a one that takes a nation to great heights.

While one can argue that a student is the one who knows himself the best and should not opt for subjects that he doesn’t like. But in saying so one is missing the point that the society’s pressures are also bore by the student. He has to maintain the dignity of himself and his family and earn a sizable income. He has seen success stories without realization of the grit and intellect that goes into that.

To avoid all the future rebukes, an institute can take decisive steps like frequent carrier tests and fairs, carrier counseling, equivalent promotion to all subjects, and organizing intellectually rewarding internships. These will cultivate a conducive environment for growth directed towards the field of his capability and liking of each type of student. And even that should be under constant scrutiny

While some responsibility also lies with the student himself, are a great deal does with the institute as are the ones who are in a position to bring about palpable change in the lives of achievers who will in time be the shining alumina of the same.
