A scandal usually refers a widely publicized allegation or set of allegations that damages the reputation of an institution, or individual. It may be based on true or false allegations, or a mixture of both. Since the nature of a scandal is objectified to harm other people, I do not believe that scandal is useful because it reveals no speakers, but only problems.
