Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study.
In order to survive in this highly competitive world, one must have a thorough knowledge of other fields too. Restricting yourself in the boundaries of one aspect of learning will hinder the gradual progress of an individual’s career graph as well as his social life. So, it is imperative to gain knowledge of various streams while you are learning.
One basic aspect, for running a company, one must have a complete and thorough knowledge of all the fields required to setup a company. This includes engineering, marketing, sales, purchase, finance, etc. Now, if our universities blends two to three of the above mentioned fields, students will get a good exposure to kind of attitude which is essential for any graduate student. For example, if the curriculum of engineering studies includes some courses which offer them to learn few presentations skills or making a daily report with various analysis of the experiments and researches that are carried out in the laboratories. This will surely benefit the students.
Now, it might prove a right step to develop the students while they are learning. Universities can even make a rule that every student of the university will have to attend any two courses from the other fields too bassed on their choice of interest. This will provide them with the basic knowledge of many others fields. Moreover, looking at the current scenario of the corporate world, it is indispensable to make contacts in lot of companies and streams. So, when a student attends a class with students belonging to other fields, it will be easier for them to interact with lot of students and teachers. Certainly, these students will be graduating and working in some or the other companies. Now, this will be beneficial to have this extraneous advantage whenever we deal these companies.
However, it would be a right foot forward to make all these above mentioned changes so as to attain a good place for the graduating students from the universities in the corporate world.
