According to the first diagram, the life cycle of silkworms start with eggs laid by a butterfly which turns into silkworm larva in ten days. Then this larva which is fed with mulberry leaves throughout the next 4-6 weeks produces silk threads for 3 to 8 days. This stage is followed by the cocoon phase ongoing for 16 days before growing into a moth and the whole cycle occurs over and over again.
