The bar chart illustrates the percentage of money given to charity by British people from different age groups for 1990 and 2010. Overall, for the year 1990, the age group of 36-50 contributed the greatest percentage of money to charity which was above 40% as compared to the age group of 18-25 which contributed the least percentage which was 17%. As for the year 2010, the age group of 51-65 accounted for below 40% which was the highest percentage among the age groups.
There were three age groups in which the percentage of money being spent on charity had decreased by comparing the year 1990 and 2010 which were the age groups of 18-25, 26-35 and 36-50. The percentage of money given by these three age groups for the year 1990 were 17%, 31% and 42% respectively. In contrast, for the year 2010, the percentage for these three age groups had fallen to 7%, 24% and 35% respectively.
As for the other two age groups, the percentage of money contributed to charity had increased by few percent between the year 1990 and 2010. In the year 1990, the 51-65 age group spent 35% of money in the charity while the above 65-year-old group gave above 30% of money. In the year 2010, the 51-65 age group increased the percentage of money contributed in which the percentage was below 40% whereas the above 65-year-old group constituted 35% which was the same as the age group of 36-50.
In conclusion, there are three age groups which had the percentage of money contributed decreased whereas the other two age groups increased the percentage of money given between the year 1990 and 2010. It is surprising to note that the age groups who increased the percentage of money given to charity were above 50 years old British people.
