The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995- 2002 ( book 9 test 1)
The bar chart depicts the annual usage of phone calls in Britain and divided into three distinct types, namely, local, international and national or mobiles between 1995 to 2002. Overall, the data reveals an erratic trend of yearly expending of money on calls. Evidently, local fixed lines are most optimal ways to communicate among British residents.
Initially, the figures demonstrates that in 1995 the local line minutes was the most significant among the three at 50 billion. In contrast, usage of mobile minutes was only one-tenth in that year. However, the yearly consumption of local landlines rapidly increased and reached a peak at 90 billion comprehensively. Whereas, after 1999 it started to plunge considerably and attained the same statistics as in the initial year.
Similarly, the national and international call types which were half of local calls gradually grew from 40 billions to 60 billions respectively. By far, mobile which had a steady climb in the first year, acquired striking figures in 2002, approximately four times the figures since 1995.
In short, local call remained most sustainable and prominent over the period of 7 years. However, finally, the minutes of mobile phones soared at the end during the period in consideration.
