The diagrams below show the life cycle of the silkworm and the stages in the production of silk cloth.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Given are the diagrams which demonstrate the life cycle of silkworm and the silk cloth production. It is clearly seen that two diagrams are related to each other.
According to the first diagram, there are four steps of silkworm life. Firstly, butterflies lay their eggs and look after the eggs which will emerge within 10 days. The following step is silkworm larvae. In this stage, they are fed by mulberry leaves and take another 4-6 weeks until the worm produce silk thread. When silk thread is ready to picked, those silk thread have to wait around 3- 8 days to be a complete cocoon. The cocoons also require another 16 days for growing and turn to be moths.
The second diagram is the process of silk cloth. The selected cocoons have to soak with water and boil , then, those threads will unwind which can extend up to approximately 300 – 900 meters. Consequently, silk threads have to twist and then weave and the last step is dying.
To sum up, the first process produce essential materials to the second diagram.
