The line chart below demonstrates about energy consumption in the USA from 1980 to 2008 and consumption projection until 2030. Petrol and oil are dominant fuel sources throughout this period with 35 quadrillion units that are used in 1980, going up to 40 quadrillion in 2008. Although there was slightly fluctuation between 1985 and 1995. Thus, it was rising gradually and it would be continue until 2030.
Consumption of energy which is obtained from natural gas and coal is similar. Starting from 20 quadrillion, in 1980, declined to 15 quadrillion units in 1985 and both of them was equal between 1985 and 1990. Coal consumption is predicted a rise steadily to 2030 while after 2015, gas remain stable in 25 quadrillion units.
Nuclear energy, hydro power and solar/wind power started equally between 1980-1985 but using nuclear has been rising since 1990 and predicted increase slightly to 2030. After slight an upward trend, hydro power has fallen back same as position in 1980 whereas solar/wind power is rising gradually until 2030.
In nutshell, the USA will depend on natural resources and nuclear energy in the future.
