In general, an upward trend is noticed by the percentage of people utilizing internet in both areas and each age range. As for the internet connection, broadband connection became more popular among the public in Australia.
As is observed, there is a constant 10% difference of internet using population between Metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas of Australia, despite that they both experienced a significant rise for approximately 40% from 1998 to 2006, with the proportion of Metropolitan stood at 70% and other religious at roughly 60%.
It is also obvious that the dial-up connection started fiercely, occupying 39% of the internet use in 2004 but then collapsed to 19% in 2007. In contrast, broadband connection has considerably gained its popularity by a leap from merely 15% in 2004 to 45% in 2007. Furthermore, Australians of all age showed a higher acceptance of internet, which can be seen by the uplift for nearly 10% of most age groups except the category of 75 and above.
