The pie charts give information about how much energy is used for a range of different forms of Australian household; and theirs gas emissions.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that although the amount of energy used for heating accounts for the largest component; gas emission from water heating is the biggest. Energy is less used for cooling and as the result, it affects the environment the least.

With regard to the Australian household energy use, heating and water heating are used popular, with 42% and 30% respectively. There is a much lower in use for refrigeration (7%); cooling (2%); lighting (4%) and 15% of other appliances.

Turning to those greenhouse gas emissions; water heating and other appliances display the highest proportions, at 32% and 28% respectively; while those of heating and refrigeration are at a similar level (~15%). The equivalent figure for lighting constitutes 8%, compared to the smallest percentage of cooling use, at 3%.
