The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010
The bar chart depicts the proportion of Australian people who exercised regularly in 2010 by gender and age groups.
Generally speaking, although the percentage of people doing sport varied according to the age, more women than men did exercise in the given year, particularly between the ages of 35 to 44. Besides, men tended to do sport when they were at a young age or aged over 64 while the opposite picture was shown in females.
To specify, over half of the adult women (aged between 35 and 64) did a regular activity compared to much lower figures among the men. Only 39.5% of men between 35 and 44 which is the lowest figure on the chart worked out regularly. Meanwhile, the most active group women was at aged 45 to 54 with 53.3% doing physical activity on a regular basis. There was also a significant difference, by nearly 7%, in the patterns for men and women aged 25-34 though females still overweighed their males counterparts.
In comparison, only at the youngest age group (15-24 years old), there were more males than females doing exercise regularly although the difference is not noticeable, with 52.8% and 47.7% respectively. Strikingly, this figure was almost the same, at around 47%, for women and men over 65.
