The bar graph shows the global sales (in billions of dollars) of different types of digital games between 2000 and 2006.
The bar chart compares how much in dollars of different digital games, namely mobile phone games, online games, console games and handheld games in the period over 2000 to 2006.
It is clear that handheld games were the most popular digital games over the 7-year period with stable rising sales. The turnover for console games, however, was the only one with a falling trend.
In 2000, handheld games were sold for about 11 billion dollars which were almost double the amount of money selling by console games. With relatively stable development, the income from handheld games rose by approximately 5 billion to 18 billion dollars in 2006. The sales from console games, on the other hand, shrank to half after 7 years compared to the amount of money in 2000.
Online games and mobile phone games were two relatively new types of digital games, showing up in 2001 and 2002 respectively. In 2003, the selling for mobile phone games reached 3 billion dollars, which overtook that of online games. However, online games became more popular than mobile phone games in 2006, with 2 billion dollars more sales to 9 billion.
