Birth rates of China and the USA
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The graph below compares changes in the birth rates of China and the USA between 1920 and 2000.

The given line graph compares the birth rates in China and the USA and how these rates changed from 1920 to 1935.
Overall, the birth rate of both nations shared a similar downward trend over the period shown. However, the figure for the USA in various years is far higher than that of China.
To begin with, the percentage of newborn babies in the USA was 11%, which is 1% higher than that in China. Despite many fluctuations in the following 2 decades, the data for China climbed to 15% before significantly dropping to the lowest point of 5% in 1942, which was also the lowest point that the rate of the USA hit in the next 5 years.
Over the remainder period, the USA and China both witnessed a dramatic increase in the birth rates before dropping gradually until the year 2000. To be specific, the birth rate of the former reached a peak of 15%, which is 5% behind that of the latter in 1945. However, there was a dramatic decrease to approximately 3% in 2000, even lower than the lowest point in the previous years, whereas the USA also saw a downward trend but more slightly and remained the rate higher than 5%.
