The table illustrates how people were changed in going for international travel between 1990 and 2005.

Overall, there was an increase in the total number of people who travelled internationally throughout the period, which was due to the increases in the number of tourists from different continents, except the America. In addition, the number of international travellers to the Europe witnessing the most dramatic rise, surpassing America to become the continent welcoming the most international tourists since 1995 and onward.

448,9 millions of people were travelling to different continents in 1990, following by a significant increase to 693,7 million in 2005. The similar changes can be seen in the figures for Europe, Asia and the Pacific, which started at 280,2 million and 60,2 million respectively, with a subsequent considerable growth to 400,2 million and 135,8 million in 2005.

Furthermore, there were also slightly rises in the number of visitors for the Middle West and Africa. Starting at 9,1 million and 18,2 million, they increased gradually to about 2millions of travellers every 5 years and ending the period at 15,8 million and 28,7 million in 2005. The reversed trend can be seen in the figure for America, beginning at 680,5 millions of travellers in 1990, being the continent which had the highest number of tourists. After which it experienced a sharply drop to just 112,5 million in 1995 before ending the period at 113,2 million in 2005.
