Given is the bar chart comparing the comparison among 3 regions (Africa, Asia and Latin America) with the whole world about the growth of population in the past and in the future (1950, 2000 and 2030).
Overall, percentage of the population living in urban areas had an upward trend in 2000 compared with 1950 in all regions and in the world as a whole. It is predicted to go up beyond by 2030.
As can be observed, in the year of 1950, Latin America ranked first with the highest population at more than 40% followed by Asia with 18% city population whereas Africa experienced the lowest figure with one tenth of the total population which was living in cities. As the time passed, in 2000, there was a boom in the population of Latin America which reached at 70% and higher than that of wholeworld about 20%, at the same time, the proportion of Africa and Asia was similar at 39% urban population.
Finally, Latin America’s percentage of population continued to get a highest figure which is forecast to reach a peak at 80% in the future year 2030. The urban population of wholeworld stand in the second place and Asia in the third place (60% and 57% respectively), last is Africa’s population at only 50%
