The bar chart illustrates changes in the weekly families' expenditure of a particular country in 1968 and 2018.
Overall, while food and housing accounted for significant proportions of the families' budget, other categories such as fuel and power took up trivial percentages.
Looking into the chart, it is notable that food occupied the largest proportion of families' spending in 1968, with 35% of the total budget being allocated for eating purposes. However, in 2018, this figure decreased significantly to only half of its previous number. In contrast, housing and transport witnessed increases in families' spending in two years. Particularly, families extracted 10% and 7.5% of the total budget for housing and transport respectively in 1968, after which the numbers nearly doubled to 20% and 15% in 2018. However, personal goods, as well as clothing and footware, saw an opposite trend, with the budget for those activities being reduced by half in 2018 and figures showing exactly 10% for clothing and 4% for personal goods. While the expenditure on household goods remained unchanged at 8% in both years, leisure activities experienced a noticeable increase in funding, with a 13% growth compared to its former number in 1968.
