The bar chart compares the rate of British donors in several age groups in the years 1990 and 2010.
It is clear that the percentages of those who are from 18 to 50 giving money to charity fell gradually. By contrast, the other age groups saw a slight increase in the rates of people donating.
In 1990, the rate of British donors aged 36-50 was highest, at 42 %. 17 % of the youngest age range donated to charity compared to 31 % for the 26-35 year-olds. The percentage of people of the 51-65 age profile giving money was 35 %, which was 3% higher than that of those over 65.
In 2010, British experienced a gradual drop in the rate of donors of 18-25 age bracket, with 7%, followed by 1990 with 17%. Similarly, there were gradual reductions in the percentages of donors of the 26-36 and 36-50 age range, at 24 % and 35 % respectively. While the level of people of the 51-65 age group making donations rose steadily to just under 40 %, that of those over 65 increased to 35%.
