The chart below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2002

The 2 pie charts illustrate what fractions of languages besides English are spoken by British students at a university in England in the years 2000 and 2010.

Overall, at the beginning of the period Spanish comprised most significant part of the spoken languages, while German and two other languages made up the smallest part of the chart. In comparison, at the end of the period Spanish still held the highest proportion of spoken languages and French and German had the least proportions in the chart.

Spanish and another language accounting for 30% and 15% of spoken languages respectively in 2000 experienced a rise of 5% by 2010. Two other languages also had a 5% increase from 10% in 2000 to 15% in the year 2010.

The number of students speaking no other language dropped by half from 20% in 2000 to 10% in 2010. And the number of French speakers fell from 15% to 10% by 2010. German remained constantly low in these years holding 10% of the students
