The chart below shows the expenditure on three categories with different proportions among residents in the UK
The bar chart gives information about the percentage of British spending on three different categories, namely food and drink, restaurant and hotel, and entertainment.
Overall, the residents under 30 years old spend most on restaurant and hotel while food and drink are preferable items for those between 30 and 75 or above.
Looking into more details, the under 30 age group uses approximately 0.14% of their total spending on restaurant and hotel, followed by around 0.1% for both people among 30 to 60 years of age. In comparison, British residents between 60 and 75 and over 75 allocate a small amount of their budget on this category, at about 0.06% and 0.04% respectively.
Regarding food and drink, there is an increasing proportion of expenditure on these item when people get older. Specially, those who over 75 years old pay more than 0.2% to buy food and drink, which was relatively higher than the figures for the other groups.
A similar pattern can be seen when it comes to entertainment which accounts for over 0.2% of the total spending of the 60-to-75 age group. However, people tend to lose interest in entertainment when they are older than 75, at nearly 0.12%.
