The chart below shows how frequently people in the USA ate at fast food restaurants between 2003 and 2013.
The bar chart illustrates changes in the frequency of eating fast food among US citizens in 2003, 2006 and 2013. People are distributed to six groups based on their responses. Units are measured in percentages.
Overall, in both 2003 and 2006, the most US citizens ate in fast food restaurant once a week, while in 2013 the most wide-spread response was “once or twice a month”. In addition, in each period given the least proportion of people ate junk food every day
The most remarkable changes happened in the groups who eat fast food on weekly basis and once or twice a month. It is clear that in 2003 and 2006 most of US citizens ate in fast food once a week (about 31% and 33% respectively). However, in 2013 almost 33% of people ate fast food once or twice a month, while only approximately 27% did it once a week.
On the other hand, there were only slight changes in the percentage of people, who eat fast food every day (about 4% in 2003 and about 3% in both 2006 and 2013). A similar situation was with those who never eat junk food; a share of such people decreased from 5% in 2003 to 4% in 2006 and remained stable in 2013.
