Essay topics:

The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accomodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.

The provided column chart illustrates the proportion of families who had and rented accommodation in England and Wales in the 1918-2011 period.
At first glance, the data of people owing houses was inversely proportioned to this of households who took a house in a lease throughout 93-year in Britain and Wales, whereas families having and renting places to live had the equal figure between 1918 and 2011.
On average, it is noticeable that citizens in England and Wales who had to pay monthly of accommodation contributed the first ranking to the total in 1918, at approximately 75%. Conversely, at the same time, the majority of households having living places for their own was in 1918, which accounted for just under 25%. Besides, while only roughly 30% of lodgers in 2001, the rate of citizens, who no need to pay for living, was highest in the whole period.
Looking at the column chart in more detail, we can see that there was a considerable downward trend by nearly 2.5 times in the percentage of households who were lodgers from 1918 to 2001 before a moderate increase to about 35% in 2011. By contrast, the figure for families, who owned houses, went up over 3-fold in 2001 in comparison with that in 1918. After that, the 2001-2011 period witnessed a slight rise to over 35% in this figure.
